Samantha is a 200 hr Register Yoga Teacher through Yoga Alliance. She started practicing yoga when she was 17 years old. What initially led her to started practicing yoga was weight loss. Then, yoga, doing what yoga does, she had her ah-ha moment! Samantha had a change of heart for her reasoning in “sticking” with it. She realized yoga gave her the space to come back to herself. As she continued to practice yoga, she became more mindful not only in how she approached life but how she treated and spoke to herself. “Now, yoga still is what grounds me and allows me to carve out time for myself. Yoga continues to help me with trying to stay present in my life, even if it is only for the time I am on my mat.”
Samantha did her teacher training with Marianne Wells in Costa Rica at a time where she was not sure what she wanted to do with her life. “That experience truly was life changing, as I was able to give myself the opportunity to fully immerse myself in the yoga teacher training experience.”
For Samantha, yoga is about the balance between movement and stillness. Her classes are taught in a gentle and mindful style. Samantha is currently in graduate school to become a mental health counselor. She feels it is important to teach others how to incorporate the different aspects of yoga, not just the asanas (because there is so much more to yoga than the physical practice), into their lives to become more mindful and present.
